Celebrate the Arts in NYC This Spring

New York City is never short of things to do on the weekend for our Sagamore residents. If you are looking to venture out beyond the Upper West Side around Manhattan there are some great upcoming events for our residents to check out. Haven’t explored the art and music culture of the city yet? Here are some events and activities you can go to this month.

Washington Square Outdoor Art Exhibit takes place the last weekend of May and first in June will bring an art exhibit to Washington Square Park. There is no fee to attend and guests can walk around and enjoy some local artists work. The show will also be going on Labor Day weekend this fall and the second weekend in September. Art ranging from jewelry and ceramic creations to oil paintings, drawings, photography and sculptures can be found all around. Take a look at their website for more details about some of the hidden treasures you can expect to find at this show.

The show has been a annual celebration in both May and September since 1931 when artists made their way to the park to sell their work for extra cash. To read the full story about the origins of the art show, take a look at their about page.

The American Ballet Theatre has their spring line up all in place. With performances taking place at The Metropolitan Opera on the Upper West Side, it is just a quick subway ride away for our Sagamore residents! Shows in the next coming months include Sleeping Beauty, Sylivia and The Golden Cockerel. To see the full line up of what is in store this season, you can visit their main website.

Here are some other fun suggestions you can explore! From theatre to museums to ballet there are endless opportunities to be engaged in the arts this spring.
