Head Downtown For NYC’s Halloween Parade


Most people have several options for a Halloween costume and may end up wearing more than one this year. Pick your best and head from The Sagamore downtown to celebrate Halloween in your best costume for the Village Halloween parade. The 2017 annual parade is set for Halloween night and is sure to be an event full of frights and fun!


NYC has been putting on their Halloween parade since 1973, making 2017 the 44th! This year the parade will start at Spring Street and make it’s way up to 16th street along 6th Ave. Join over 50,000 marchers who are expected on the route and be a part of the fun as a spectator along the side. Just make sure you are wearing a costume or you won’t be able to join in!


There will be several puppets and creatures roaming around the NYC streets with you as well as over 53 bands participating in this year’s event. Spooky and mystical music will be played throughout the march. Artists and dancers will also be making their way through the crowd as part of the fun.

They will be hosting a huge event to celebrate all Hallows Eve which will include give always, a costume contest with a prize, several dance floors and many entertainers! Each floor of the club will have a  different Halloween theme and music.

Halloween Events Around NYC

Halloween is one of the best nights of the year and there are many ways to celebrate without having to go out trick or treating! Events will be taking place all around NYC this year to great up for the night of fright. Here are some events for our Sagamore residents to be a part of this year!


Pumpkin Parade and Flotilla: Taking place in Central Park, this event will be held right in the middle of NYC, and just a few minutes away from The Sagamore! On Sunday October 29th, head over for the parade, which starts at 6pm. Make sure to be in costumes so you can walk along the parade path. Bring your carved pumpkins to be part of the Floatilla post parade launch! At the Harlem Meer all carved pumpkins will be released with lights that create a spooky and magical scene.


Merchant House Tour: Is your favorite part of Halloween the fright and thrills? If so a tour of the most haunted house in NYC is the perfect Halloween event to take part in! The house is filled with the belongings of the family that lived there until 1933. Take a candlelight tour of the estate located a quick subway stop away from The Sagamore downtown! Tour guides will tell all the ghost story and legends revolving the house from the past and now!


Boo at the Zoo: Hop on the 2 train and take it uptown right to The Bronx Zoo! This easy trip will bring you to a fun day full of animals, drinking and fun! Take a hayride around part of the premises, watch acrobatic performances and learn about ravens, owls and more creepy crawly creatures of the night. There will also be plenty of seasonal food and beer to enjoy!
