There’s a new ice cream shop that will be opening its door in just a few short weeks on the Upper West Side! While it may seem like a little early to be thinking ice cream, with the warm winter days we have been having in between the cold, there’s no reason to rule out this refreshing treat this time of year. Here is all that our Sagamore residents need to know about this new eatery making its way to the neighborhood.
Van Leeuwen is not new to NYC with several locations in Brooklyn, the Lower East Side and both East and West Village. They strive to provide delicious flavors to their customers that are unique and their own. Describing themselves as an Artisan Ice Cream Shop, this family run business has been around for just under a decade and has made quite a name for themselves here in NYC. Starting in 2008 out of an ice cream truck, all of their ice cream is made in their Greenpoint store and brought to the other locations. They strive to use only the freshest ingredients and also have a vegan menu with several flavors.
Flavors you will find include Honeycomb, Hazelnut Chocolate Chip, Sicilian Pistachio, Peanut Butter Marshmallow, Maple Pecan, Ginger and of course all of the classics such as Chocolate and Vanilla. They also serve special flavors that change throughout the year.
This new Upper West Side shop will be located on Amsterdam and 81st, just a few blocks away for our Sagamore residents! If you want to learn more you can visit their website or even purchase this Ice Cream Shop’s very own cookbook!
