Fleet week is upon us and this year is sure to be unlike any other as the Navy is celebrating the 30th anniversary of Fleet Week festivities! Events will be taking place across the city all week long. Here is everything our Sagamore residents need to know about this annual event.
Parade of Ships: The Parade of ships kicks things off on the 23rd with close to 2,500 Marines taking part in NYC’s first Fleet Week Event. There will be over 13 ships in the NY Harbor including command ships, vessels and control boats making their way to NYC to dock for the week.
Tours: You can get a close and personal look at the ships by taking a daily tour. Tours will be offered on most of the lines from 10am until 5pm. Lines tend to be long so make sure to plan ahead if you want to be on a real Navy ship!
Parks and bike trails or farmers market
Performances: Several naval and military displays will take place throughout the week. Navy divers will perform shows and there will also be an aviation show. Marine demos and a drill team performance are also on the schedule.
Exhibitions: You can visit the Intrepid Museum located at Pier 86 for more special events taking place in conjunction with this years Fleet Week. They will host a variety of events including concerts, ceremonies, talks and movie showings. They will also have several interactive displays on view.
