Farmers Markets are starting to pop up around NYC and the Upper West Side which must mean warm weather is officially here! While the temperature continues to climb, you can spend your evening and weekend grocery shopping a little more fun by visiting one of the many local farmers markets. Here are some close by to The Sagamore for our residents to visit this season.
79th Street Greenmarket: Open on Sunday, this farmers market is just a few blocks downtown (about a five minute walk!) from The Sagamore. Located between 77th and 81st street, the market will span along Columbus Ave from 9am to 5pm. They host several vendors throughout the season with seasonal fruit and veggie stands popping up throughout.
97th Street Market: On Columbus and Amsterdam you’ll find this Upper West Side market open on Fridays from 8am until 2pm. This local market is one of the longest standing NYC farmers markets entering their 25th year. They serve fresh produce from the Hudson Valley which includes grass fed meat, organic eggs and much more! You can visit their website for a full likes of vendors.
Tucker Square Greenmarket: One of the newest neighborhood markets has hickory become one of NYC’s favorites. Just a few subway stops for our residents, this local market is open to the Upper West Side every Thursday. They also host special events throughout the season including cooking demonstrations and recipe exchanges. While they have plenty of fruits and veggies this market specializes in baked goods with vendors such as Baker’s Bounty Breads & pastries, Body & Soul and Meredith’s Country Bakery all participating.
