You might not want to dress up. You might not want to eat an apple pie. But there’s no way you can miss out on pumpkin picking in October, especially since right outside the city, we have so many rustic farms!

Pick out the perfect pumpkin from these pumpkin farms near home and make good use of it by cooking up a pumpkin pie or simply using it to decorate your Sagamore apartment. You’ll have your pick of the litter – literally – at these farms, which offer huge pumpkin selections.

Ward’s Pumpkin Patch, located at 552 NJ-17, Ridgewood NJ which is 28 minutes from your Sagamore apartment, is an 80-year-old operation which offers a seasonal selection of locally grown produce and homemade goods as well as the best haystacks, corn stalks and pumpkins.

Starting Oct. 1, stop by Ward’s Pumpkin Patch and choose from pumpkin varieties including Baby Bear, Big Max, Cinderella, Fairytale, Iron Man, Lil’ Pokemon, Full Moon and more. They also offer specialty gourds, squash, autumn décor and other fall items.

Wightman Farms, located at 1111 Mt Kemble Ave, Morristown which is 50 minutes from your Sagamore apartment, is a 100-year-old farm offering pick-your-own pumpkins as well as farm fresh produce, baked goods, cider and ice cream.

Wightman Farms’ fall festival takes place every weekend starting Sept. 12 with activities including hayrides, a corn maze and apple and pumpkin picking. This is a great way to get an authentic farm experience among the fresh autumn air.
