These Local Bars Are The Perfect Hangouts for Thanksgiving Eve

Turkey, stuffing and mashed potatoes may be a Thanksgiving Day tradition, but there’s another tradition for Thanksgiving Eve – grabbing a drink (or two!) at your favorite local bars to relax before the big day.

On the Upper West Side, we have a ton of bars to choose from, including everything from swanky cocktail bars to casual pubs. Choose the one that fits your mood and pick up anything from a cold beer to a fine glass of wine on Nov. 25!

The Dead Poet, located at 450 Amsterdam Ave #2, New York which is an eight minute walk from your Sagamore apartment, is a narrow, literary-themed Irish pub which whips up cocktails named after poets and food from a bar menu.

Combining his passion for Irish pubs and literature, owner Drew Dvorkin opened The Dead Poet in 2000. Drew, a former high school English teacher, designed the bar to celebrate the lives and spirits of famous writers and poets. The mahogany-paneled walls are adorned with black and white portraits, musing quotations and poetic passages pertaining to the universal quandaries of life.

Vin Sur Vingt Wine Bar, located at 66 W 84th St, New York which is a nine minute walk from your Sagamore apartment, is a European-influenced wine bar offering 250 wines on a rotating selection and 50 by the glass.

The wine menu, carefully selected from regions such as Bordeaux, Loire Valley, Alsace, Languedoc, Bourgogne, and Corsica, is beautifully complemented by a light fare menu inspired by the owner’s grandmother. Their friendly and knowledgeable staff will guide you toward the wine selection that will best pair with their delicious food menu.
