Best Beaches Around NYC

Summer is officially here and the summer heat is in full swing with some 80 and 90 degree weather in our forecast. If you have a day off, are lucky enough to experience summer Fridays or are looking for somewhere to cool off over the weekend, there are several beaches not too far from NYC our Sagamore residents can easily visit. Whether you have your own car or rely on public transit, you can make your way to all of these local beaches this summer from The Upper West Side!

Fire Island: Fire Island is a little bit of a longer trip from the Upper West side but well worth it if you are looking for a mini vacation and looking for the perfect spot for a weekend beach trip. With limited cars allowed on the island, the unique community makes it feel like one big beach rather than a cluster of small towns! You can visit for the day, stay out on Long Island, or rent a beach house on Fire Island itself! There are several waterfront restaurants to enjoy a nice dinner with friends and family, shops to take a break from the sun and of course miles of sandy to enjoy the Ocean! You can get there from NYC by taking the LIRR and then hopping on the Fire Island ferry.

Long Beach: Long Beach is just an hour outside Manhattan and a easy train ride away for our Sagamore residents! Take the train out of Penn on the LIRR to Long Beach Long Island. For less than 20 bucks enjoy the beautiful Long Island Scenery on this 5 mile stretch of sand. There are plenty of activities on the beach. Join in on a game of Volleyball or take a stroll along the newly built boardwalk. You can buy a day pass to enjoy a day on the beach or purchase a season pass if you plan on making the trip often!

Jersey Shore: Jersey Shore and Long Beach are popular vacation spots for local residents in the Tri-State area. If you are looking for something a little different from the Long Island beaches, take the NJ Transit train and hop off at one of the several stops along the shore! There are several boardwalks with cute stores, great places to eat and plenty to do if you don’t want to bathe in the sun all day long.
