Holiday Dining in the Upper West Side

While there is nothing quite like a home cooked meal, dining out with friends and family who are visiting during the holiday season is always great. Local restaurants around the Upper West Side will be transforming their usual decor into a festive fun space this holiday season! Here are some local eateries where you can dine and find specials for the holidays.

Crave Fish Bar (81st and Amsterdam): Crave Fish Bar will be offering both a special Hanukkah and Christmas Eve  dinner menu in addition to their main dishes this holiday season! Their special menu will include dishes celebrating Hanukkah such as latke with salmon sashimi, creme fraiche, lemon yuzu shallot emulsion with fresh chive and Christmas Eve special additions including roast snapper, strip steak and lobster fra diavolo with buttered bucatini. Bettola (79th and Amsterdam): Bettola will be serving a special menu for the holidays– yet to be announced! Open for both Hanukkah and Christmas this is a great local spot to bring family and friends. French Roast Uptown (85th and Broadway): Just a short walk from The Sagamore, French Roast Uptown is the perfect spot for a more casual dinning experience and delightful meal this holiday season if you won’t be cooking! To celebrate Hanukkah and Christmas Eve, menu items will include festive brisket cooked with apples and a brown sugar mustard glaze, and Oven Roasted Tuna with broccoli rabe, tomatoes, olives and capers. Bar Boulud (64th and Broadway): Bar Boulud will be serving a fixed price three course special menu on Christmas Eve. Dinner will be served starting at 5pm and reservations are required. If you choose to stop into this local Upper West Side spot, you will have a choice of Mushroom Soup, Hand Rolled Potato Gnocchi, and Slow Baked Black Bass for your holiday meal. Celebrate the Holidays with NYC’s Festive Shows

The month of December brings an instant change in mood with festive fall decorations and colors transforming to a snowy white city winter wonderland! Whether getting into the holiday spirit for our Sagamore residents includes walking down Fifth Avenue for all the glorious windows, or visiting the Rockefeller tree, or just listening to holiday music at your Sagamore apartment, there is plenty more to do in Manhattan and around the Upper West Side for the holidays! Here are some wonderful shows taking place this month in New York City.

Mariah Carey will be performing at the Beacon Theatre here on the Upper West Side for a special Christmas show. Just a few blocks downtown from The Sagamore, you can enjoy All I Want for Christmas is You, which will be on stage for several days this month. Between December 7th and December 17th, you can catch Mariah’s famous tune along with many others. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased on the Beacon Theatre’s website here.

George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker will be performed by the New York City Ballet at the David H. Kotch Theatre for the month of December. The show, which originally was performed in 1954, has been a New York City tradition ever since! With over 90 dancers, 50 cast members and 60 musicians, this magical show is a must see for getting into the holiday spirit. Radio City Music Hall is just a short trip downtown to 50th street and hosts one of the most talked about shows during the holiday season! The Radio City Christmas Spectacular has wowed anyone who has attended a show since 1933. The show has just gotten bigger and better since, making 2016 one of the best yet! Tickets for this year are on sale now, and dates are available for the whole month of December. The show will feature the famous Rockettes, Rag Dolls and Reindeer.
