If you are looking for the best places around NYC that put on a holiday show and extravaganza, make sure to visit the below places this month! Most are not too far away from your Sagamore apartment.

Dyker Heights: Dyker Heights is nationally famous for their neighborhood festive cheer and extravagant holiday light displays. Well worth the trip out to Brooklyn, you can see some of the best holiday scenes in the city! Most light displays are between 11th and 13th Avenue, but you can take a bus around or even hire a private tour guide for this neighborhood’s magical wonderland.

5th Avenue: If you make your way down Fifth Avenue, you will run into an abundance of holiday cheer and decorations! Easy to get to from your Sagamore apartment, hop on the 1 train and get off at Columbus Circle. Starting from the south end of Central Park, stores all along the famous NYC Avenue will have holiday displays, music and lights in their store windows. As you reach midtown you can step aside to Rockefeller Center to see the famous tree and other festive decor. Make your way across the street to Saks where they will once again have their 12 story light show taking place several times every night.

Time Warner Center: Head down to the Shops at Columbus Circle at the Time Warner Center right here on the Upper West Side for one of the best holiday displays! The 14 foot ginormous stars light up the space with flashing colors while playing everyone’ favorite holiday songs.

Holiday Decorating at The Sagamore

There are many ways to make your Sagamore apartment a winter wonderland this holiday season, even if the temperatures in Manhattan are more May than December. We found some great tips online on apartment decorating for our residents!

Receiving tons of beautiful Christmas cards but not sure what to do with them? Display your holiday cards on the wall along with pops of greenery, such as sprigs of pine. Line them up on window sills or shelving you may have around the apartment. You can also have fun making your own mini “gingerbread house” with graham crackers or adorable edible snow globes! Baking a normal gingerbread house can be hours of tedious work, but this fun easy tutorial will only take about an hour and leave you with the same adorable look.

Does your regular apartment furniture kill the festive vibe a little? Try changing up your dining room chairs with a holiday makeover as well. Looking for a place to hang the stockings with care but missing the mantel? No worries! We found this great website with some fun suggestions for apartment stocking hanging.

No holiday decor is complete without a Christmas tree! Head over to Broadway at 102nd and pick up a tree from Upper West Side Christmas tree salesman Francois. He has some great options ranging from $25-$300! Or you can leave the city and cut your own to bring home. Make a fun day of it as some farms offer activities such as carriage rides, Santa photos, and holiday shopping.
