Celebrate Oktoberfest At These Local German Bars

Fall has arrived here on the Upper West Side and thanks to the many German bars we have in our area, we can celebrate in everyone’s favorite way – with a pint of authentic German beer in true Oktoberfest spirit!

In Germany, Oktoberfest is celebrated both in September and October, and we can do the same here with just a short drive to one of these German establishments. Don’t leave without a giant pretzel, bratwurst and sauerkraut to go with your pint!

Heidelberg, located at 1648 2nd Ave, New York which is 10 minutes from your Sagamore apartment, is a circa-1936 eatery boasts rib-sticking German grub and plenty of beer to wash it down.

The Heidelberg is one of the oldest family-run German restaurants in the United States, dating back over one hundred years. Today, Heidelberg retains the same recipes and atmosphere as it had in the past. It remains frozen in time, capturing the magic of the golden age of Germantown, and the menu offers treasured Old World favorites along with savory new dishes.

Schaller’s Stube Sausage Bar, located at 1652 2nd Ave, New York which is 10 minutes from your Sagamore apartment, is a compact counter serve doling out elevated sausage sandwiches with an international twist, plus beer.

When Ferdinand Schaller and Tony Weber opened the doors of their modest butcher shop in 1937, they were catering to the needs of the German immigrants in their neighborhood. Ever since then, this now-sausage bar has been crafting New York City’s most authentic German style sausage and charcuterie, and now with nearly a century of experience, it’s known internationally as a symbol of taste and quality.
