NYC Restaurant Week on the UWS

Restaurant week happens just a few times a year, and our residents at The Sagamore can try out the winter menus of great local eateries this month, with restaurant week taking NYC by storm again!

Restaurant week will be held from January 23rd-February 10th where several restaurants all around the Upper West Side as well as around Manhattan will offer fixed priced menus of their best dishes. If you want to try out somewhere new while getting a steal on the price or want an excuse to visit your favorite local place, NYC restaurant week is the perfect opportunity to take advantage of.

If you are looking to try a place a little different from the traditional sit down restaurant, Smoke Jazz and Supper Club will be participating in restaurant week! Located just a short ride uptown on 105th street, our Sagamore residents can sit down and enjoy some world class Jazz music while enjoying a savory meal. They will be offering a three course dinner for $42 and a $29 special brunch on Sundays. To see their full menu, check out their website.

If you are craving authentic and flavorful Mexican Cuisine, Calle Ocho located on 81st Street between Columbus and Central Park West will also be part of restaurant week! They will offer a fixed price dinner every evening except Saturday. Menu items include Pollo Peruano which is sweet plantain stuffed chicken breast, peruvian style potatoes, chicken sausage, and aleppo pepper sauce. Britee, also known as cuban style french fries is a favorite on their menu and there are several mouth mouth watering options!

Here are some other great places you can check out around the Upper West side, not too far from The Sagamore during restaurant week! Tables tend to book up quick so make sure to get in your reservation! You can also see all the participating restaurants around NYC celebrating restaurant week, by visiting OpenTable here.

Spend NYE on the UWS

There’s one thing every New Yorker knows to be true on NYE; do not go near midtown. Our Upper West Side location makes it easy to avoid the crowds, and some of your best options are just a short walk away from The Sagamore!

Bustan

This Mediterranean restaurant has been spicing up the Upper West Side’s food scene since last year, and is introducing a new executive chef specializing in breads just in time for the New Year. For $75, enjoy a family-style menu full of items such as beefsteak tomato tart, taboon charred octopus, lamb terracotta, and raspberry champagne gelee. Toast 2016 with spicy apricot margaritas or lavender martinis or, if that’s just too out there, spring for a bottle of Baron Fuente Champagne Grande Reserve. 487 Amsterdam Avenue, 212-595-5050

Burke & Wills Australian Bistro

Head down under for New Year’s Eve at this Australian Bistro and UWS hotspot. Their Prix fixe menu features irresistible dishes, such as smoked arctic char with salmon roe, grilled scallions and lemon butter, as well as other tasty ensembles. For NYE they’re offering two different seatings with prices varying. Both come with complimentary champagne! 226 W 79th St., 646-823-9251

TESSA

This modern Mediterranean UWS dining spot is certain to be on the radar of every Upper West Sider in 2016. During the first seating at 5pm-7:30pm, the standard menu will be available. For the second seating at 9pm the chef has created an abridged, all-you-can-eat menu featuring TESSA’s hit dishes, like the irresistible Rabbit Cavatelli. There will also be a complimentary champagne toast at midnight, with party music flowing through the hip, industrial-chic interior. 349 Amsterdam Ave., (212)-390-1974
