The Best Places to Ice Skate Around NYC

Ice skating is one of the most popular winter activities. With several outdoor and even indoor rinks located in Manhattan and the surrounding boroughs, there are plenty of opportunities to grab your skates and hit the rink. Here are some places our Sagamore residents can ice skate this winter if you are looking for something fun to do outdoors this month!

Bryant Park: The Bank of America rink at Bryant Park is open through the beginning of March. Skate around with beautiful views of the entire park and part of the midtown skyline. Enjoy some hot beverages at one of the local shops after spending same time in the cold. You can either bring your own skates, or rent if you don’t have! The rink is open daily from 8am-10pm.

Central Park: Central Park has two ice skating rinks that NYC residents can visit this winter, both minutes away from The Sagamore! Wollman rink is located at midtown west and is a great spot for skating with a view. Enjoy the scenery of the park and avenues that surround it. You can take classes, host a party and make reservations. If speed skating and hockey are more your speed, visit Lasker Ice rink uptown. This rink is a NHL regulation size rink with plenty of room for all.

Rockefeller Center: The Rockefeller center rink is one of the biggest and most popular in NYC! You can make reservations in advance if you plan on visiting in order to reduce waiting time. The rink is open everyday until midnight leaving plenty of time to visit throughout the day.

Riverbank Park: Riverbank park is just a few minutes uptown from the Sagamore and has it’s very own outdoor/indoor rink. This outdoor rink had a full cover so it can remain open if the weather starts to act up. Participate in a group skating session, take a class, attend a hockey game or join other Upper West Side residents during the open skate sessions. You can see the schedule for this season on their website.
